As part of our “All About Me, All About Us” unit, the kids used their own names as an entry point into thinking about letters and sounds. They also thought about how names are important for identity and we built classroom community by sharing our friends’ names.

Bug Hunt – Learning by Teaching
A small group from my class showed a year-long interest in insects which I nurtured through various projects. Sometimes, their interest captivated the whole class and we were able to create trans-disciplinary learning opportunities led by the students themselves.
